A daily prayer for peace

There is much suffering in our world right now – places marked by conflict, uncertainty, and deep loss.

In the midst of this, the Sisters of Saint Joseph invite us into a simple act of unity in prayer.

How to take part in the daily prayer for peace

From Friday 24 April until the Feast of the Sacred Heart on Friday 12 June – you are invited to pause each day at 2 pm for a moment in prayer – wherever you are.

Why we pray together for peace

In Matthew 18:19–20, Jesus speaks of the power of coming together in agreement in prayer. We trust in that promise and that even across distance, we are united. In our homes, workplaces, churches and communities, we do become one voice, holding the world in prayer.

What to pray for each day

We pray for those who are suffering, for the protection of those most vulnerable, and for the quiet triumph of truth and justice in our world.

How to begin a simple daily prayer

Prayer is a simple turning toward God – bringing what is on your heart, and allowing His presence to meet you in that moment. There is no right or wrong way to do it.

If you’re unsure where to begin, you’ll find a short prayer and a few reflection questions to gently guide you.

Our Prayer for Peace

Lord Jesus,

You meet us not with force,
but with the quiet strength of peace.

Be near to all who are suffering –
the wounded, the fearful, the displaced.
Breathe your peace into places of conflict.

Where there is division, bring reconciliation.
Where there is fear, awaken courage.
Where there is harm, stir hearts toward justice.

Teach us to be people of peace
in the ways we live, speak and act each day.

We ask this in faith,
and in hope.

Amen.

At Mary MacKillop Place, quiet spaces for prayer and reflection can be found throughout the chapel and gardens. You are always welcome to visit, pause, and take a moment of stillness.

Support the ongoing mission of Mary MacKillop Place – a place of welcome, reflection, and hope.

“Happy indeed is the love of God and the true religious peace I hope will be yours.”
