The permanent exhibitions at the Mary MacKillop Place Museum are set within a distinctive heritage precinct, with galleries located across four historic buildings. Among these are three dedicated permanent exhibition spaces, as well as Alma Cottage – an original 1855 house museum. As one of the earliest residences connected to Mary MacKillop and the Sisters, Alma Cottage has been thoughtfully furnished in a modest Victorian style, honouring the simplicity and spirit of the Congregation.

Event Details
For three decades, Mary MacKillop Place has welcomed thousands seeking peace and inspiration in North Sydney. This anniversary exhibition revisits some of the milestones, memories, and moments that have shaped our story, from welcoming pilgrims worldwide to celebrating the legacy of the Sisters of Saint Joseph.
Inspired by the Jubilee Year and Pope Francis’ “pilgrimage of hope,” we’re reminded that hope is something we live and share. This exhibition also highlights the ongoing work of Mary MacKillop Today, where stories of hope and transformation in Timor-Leste and Australia show that hope is very much alive today.
Included in your ticket price is access to a Hope Walk Pilgrimage resource that has been designed to take you through Mary MacKillop Place with a reflection on the theme of ‘Hope’. These are available for collection with your ticket.
Join us on this journey. Walk through the past and be inspired for what’s to come.

Event Details
Join us for Mass at the Mary MacKillop Memorial Chapel, when the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick will be offered.
Following the homily, those who wish to receive this healing sacrament are invited to come forward. The priest will anoint them with the Oil of the Infirm – blessed by the Bishop during the Chrism Mass on Holy Thursday – offering physical, mental, and spiritual strength, and bringing peace and hope.
These special Masses are held on the second Tuesday of each even-numbered month (February, April, June, August, October, and December), unless this date falls on the 8th, when the Mass of Saint Mary MacKillop is celebrated instead. Please check the monthly What’s On calendar for confirmation.
ANOINTING OF THE SICK OUTSIDE OF MASS TIMES
The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is also available by appointment with the Chaplain through the Pastoral Care Office (see details below).
